unob\u00adstruct\u00aded by humans Oder\u00adtal redesigned accord\u00ading to Dutch plans. Sev\u00ader\u00adal wet and dry pold\u00aders were created.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalpark-unteres-odertal.de\/en\/lower-oder-valley-national-park\/habitat-types\/polders\/dry-polder\/\"> Dry pold\u00ader<\/a>, for exam\u00adple the Friedrich\u00adsthaler Pold\u00ader (5\/6) (650&nbsp;hectares) or the Lunow Stolper Pold\u00ader (1,680&nbsp;hectares) are so-called dry pold\u00aders, which means that they are pro\u00adtect\u00aded from flood\u00ading by dikes all year round and can also be used for agri\u00adcul\u00adture all year round. The so-called<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalpark-unteres-odertal.de\/en\/lower-oder-valley-national-park\/habitat-types\/polders\/wet-polder\/\"> Wet or flood pold\u00aders<\/a>, for exam\u00adple the Criewen\u00ader pold\u00ader (A) (1,644 ha), the Schwedt pold\u00ader (B) (1,303 ha) or the Fid\u00addi\u00adchow\u00ader Pold\u00ader (10) (1,773 ha) are only pro\u00adtect\u00aded from flood\u00ading in the sum\u00admer half of the year by so-called sum\u00admer dykes; in the win\u00adter half of the year, from Octo\u00adber, the inlet struc\u00adtures are opened, and the then fre\u00adquent\u00adly ris\u00ading Oder water can enter the pold\u00aders and through out\u00adlet struc\u00adtures when the water lev\u00adel is low, they also flow north again. (B) (1,303 ha) or the Fid\u00addi\u00adchow\u00ader Pold\u00ader (10) (1,773 ha) are only pro\u00adtect\u00aded from flood\u00ading in the sum\u00admer half of the year by so-called sum\u00admer dykes; in the win\u00adter half of the year, from Octo\u00adber, the inlet struc\u00adtures are opened, and the then fre\u00adquent\u00adly ris\u00ading Oder water can enter the pold\u00aders and through out\u00adlet struc\u00adtures when the water lev\u00adel is low, they also flow north again. From April 15 of each year, on the instruc\u00adtions of the respon\u00adsi\u00adble nation\u00adal park admin\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion, the inlet struc\u00adtures and, after the water has drained accord\u00ading to the nat\u00adur\u00adal gra\u00addi\u00adent, also the out\u00adlet struc\u00adtures are closed and the water still remain\u00ading in the pold\u00ader is pumped out, which is expen\u00adsive and ener\u00adgy-inten\u00adsive after the struc\u00adtures have been closed. As of 2015, the head of the nation\u00adal park admin\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion, after many years of urg\u00ading the nation\u00adal park asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion, which is prac\u00adti\u00adcal\u00adly the sole own\u00ader of the agri\u00adcul\u00adtur\u00adal land in the Fid\u00addi\u00adchow Pold\u00ader (10), will at least stop pump\u00ading there. A first success.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Accord\u00ading to a water man\u00adage\u00adment fea\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty study com\u00admis\u00adsioned by the State of Bran\u00adden\u00adburg itself, the asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion also demands that the inlet and out\u00adlet struc\u00adtures in the Fid\u00addi\u00adchow\u00ader Pold\u00ader (10) also remain open all year round so that the water lev\u00adel there can adapt to that of the Oder in at least a semi-nat\u00adur\u00adal way . In the Criewen\u00ader and Schwedter Nasspold\u00ader (A\/B), too, the inlet and out\u00adlet struc\u00adtures must remain open at least until May 31 of each year, longer if pos\u00adsi\u00adble, of course, to enable nat\u00adur\u00adal water conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">The Nation\u00adal Park Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion is also very com\u00admit\u00adted to ensur\u00ading that on the Pol\u00adish side the Gartzer Pold\u00ader and the Schillers\u00addor\u00adfer Pold\u00ader as the heart of the cross-bor\u00adder Inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal Park Unteres Oder Val\u00adley remain unused and con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adous\u00adly con\u00adnect\u00aded to the water lev\u00adel of the East and West Oder through year-round open gates. The Pol\u00adish side of the planned restart of the tech\u00adni\u00adcal struc\u00adtures, the asso\u00adci\u00adat\u00aded pos\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty of reg\u00adu\u00adlat\u00ading the water lev\u00adel and the agri\u00adcul\u00adtur\u00adal use of the area to be expect\u00aded as a result are reject\u00aded by the Nation\u00adal Park Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion and its nature con\u00adser\u00adva\u00adtion part\u00adners on the Pol\u00adish&nbsp;side.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:30px;width:100%;\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 sep-underline sep-dotted fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-font-size:30px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;font-size:1em;line-height:33px;\">Historical water management<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2 awb-text-cols fusion-text-columns-2\" style=\"--awb-text-transform:none;--awb-columns:2;--awb-column-spacing:2em;--awb-column-min-width:400px;\"><p>Until the begin\u00adning of this cen\u00adtu\u00adry, the Oder in the low\u00ader Oder val\u00adley was able to mean\u00adder large\u00adly unhin\u00addered. As is so often the case, the Oder also showed the need to con\u00adtin\u00adue this up to the mouth after hydraulic engi\u00adneer\u00ading inter\u00adven\u00adtions in a stream. Because of the low gra\u00addi\u00adent, the water in the low\u00ader Oder val\u00adley can accu\u00admu\u00adlate in strong north winds. Onshore winds raise the lev\u00adel of the Baltic Sea near Swinou\u00adj\u00adscie and cause the lagoon and Damm\u00adschen Lake to be filled in by back cur\u00adrents. The land belonged to Ger\u00adman small\u00adhold\u00aders until 1945, then was expro\u00adpri\u00adat\u00aded under social\u00adism and is now the prop\u00ader\u00adty of the Pol\u00adish state. Con\u00adser\u00adva\u00adtion\u00adists on both sides of the bor\u00adder con\u00adsid\u00ader these planned, very expen\u00adsive con\u00adstruc\u00adtion mea\u00adsures to be a waste of mon\u00adey and anti-nature conservation.<\/p>\n<p>On the Ger\u00adman side, how\u00adev\u00ader, the ear\u00adli\u00ader plans, for which there was already a plan approval pro\u00adce\u00addure, which had to be can\u00adceled, have been aban\u00addoned to deep\u00aden the Hohen\u00adsaat\u00aden-Friedrich\u00adsthaler Wasser\u00adstra\u00dfe to 4.50&nbsp;m and widen it to 55&nbsp;m. Since this water\u00adway runs through the mid\u00addle of the nation\u00adal park, espe\u00adcial\u00adly through the mid\u00addle of the total reserves in the Fid\u00addi\u00adchow\u00ader Pold\u00ader (10), it would have involved seri\u00adous inter\u00adven\u00adtions in the flood\u00adplain area.
