fau\u00adna and flo\u00adra were car\u00adried out until 1998.&nbsp;A total of 1,726 plant species were iden\u00adti\u00adfied, which can be grouped into 90 types of veg\u00ade\u00adta\u00adtion and 44 plant com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties, 12 of which are aquat\u00adic plant com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties. Of the 1,726 iden\u00adti\u00adfied plant species, 303, i.e. 17.6&nbsp;%, on the Red List of Endan\u00adgered Ferns and Flow\u00ader\u00ading Plants of the State of Bran\u00adden\u00adburg, 38 of which belong to Cat\u00ade\u00adgo\u00adry 1, i.e. to the species direct\u00adly threat\u00adened with extinc\u00adtion. Among them are the moun\u00adtain asters (<em>Aster amel\u00adlus<\/em>), the bristly and broad-leaved bell\u00adflower (<em>Cam\u00adpan\u00adu\u00adla cer\u00advi\u00adcaria<\/em> and <em>Cam\u00adpan\u00adu\u00adla lat\u00adi\u00adfo\u00adlia<\/em>), the Pen\u00adte\u00adcost car\u00adna\u00adtion (<em>Dianthus gra\u00adtia\u00adnop\u00ado\u00adli\u00adtanus<\/em>), the wire-haired ele\u00adphant (<em>Inu\u00adla hir\u00adta<\/em>), the moun\u00adtain herb (<em>Liban\u00adotis mon\u00adtana<\/em>), the pur\u00adple orchid (<em>Orchis pur\u00adpurea<\/em>) or the species that were recent\u00adly record\u00aded in Bran\u00adden\u00adburg for the first time, such as yel\u00adlow-sheathed feath\u00ader grass (<em>Sti\u00adpa pul\u00adcher\u00adri\u00adma<\/em>) and the downy oak (<em>Quer\u00adcus pubes\u00adcens<\/em>), which have their only Bran\u00adden\u00adburg loca\u00adtion in the low\u00ader Oder val\u00adley. 149 species are list\u00aded as threat\u00adened on the Red List of the Fed\u00ader\u00adal Repub\u00adlic of Ger\u00admany. The high pres\u00adence of these threat\u00adened plant species shows the impor\u00adtance of the project area for species and biotope pro\u00adtec\u00adtion. Almost every sixth Red List species in the fed\u00ader\u00adal ter\u00adri\u00adto\u00adry and 44.5% of the Red List species in the State of Bran\u00adden\u00adburg occur in the low\u00ader Oder val\u00adley, with the species threat\u00adened being even\u00adly dis\u00adtrib\u00aduted between the wet and dry locations.<\/p>\n<p>The Fed\u00ader\u00adal Repub\u00adlic of Ger\u00admany bears a spe\u00adcial respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty for the preser\u00adva\u00adtion of 14 plant species grow\u00ading in the project area, as these occur exclu\u00adsive\u00adly or almost exclu\u00adsive\u00adly here, with a decreas\u00ading trend. For exam\u00adple, four out of five known sites of sand feath\u00ader grass in Ger\u00admany and Bran\u00adden\u00adburg are here (<em>Sti\u00adpa borys\u00adtheni\u00adca<\/em>). The con\u00adser\u00adva\u00adtion of this feath\u00ader grass species is only pos\u00adsi\u00adble here and in adja\u00adcent areas. It is there\u00adfore one of the most impor\u00adtant species in the area in terms of nature conservation.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of a sum\u00adma\u00adriz\u00ading, nature con\u00adser\u00adva\u00adtion assess\u00adment, it can be stat\u00aded that the rare plant com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties can be found pre\u00addom\u00adi\u00adnant\u00adly in the arid areas of the hill coun\u00adtry and in the Oder foothills, while more fre\u00adquent plant com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties can be found in the polders.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column With the flat-leaved man lit\u00adter (<em>Eryn\u00adgium planum<\/em>), the glossy milk\u00adweed (<em>Euphor\u00adbia luci\u00adda<\/em>) and the Tatar catch\u00adfly (<em>Silene tatar\u00adi\u00adca<\/em>) flow val\u00adley plants from the con\u00adti\u00adnen\u00adtal areas of Europe and Asia reach the Oder val\u00adley and are found here just like, for exam\u00adple, the adder\u2019s head hawk\u00adweed (<em>Hieraci\u00adum echioides<\/em>) and the Siber\u00adian bell\u00adflower (<em>Cam\u00adpan\u00adu\u00adla sibir\u00adi\u00adca<\/em>) the absolute west\u00adern lim\u00adit of their Euro\u00adpean dis\u00adtri\u00adb\u00adu\u00adtion in the dry grass\u00adland. With the occur\u00adrence of these species, the above-described con\u00adti\u00adnen\u00adtal cli\u00admat\u00adic influ\u00adences are doc\u00adu\u00adment\u00aded floristically.<\/p>\n<p>The sand car\u00adna\u00adtion, which is only found in North\u00adern Europe (<em>Dianthus are\u00adnar\u00adius<\/em>) reach\u00ades its south\u00adwest bor\u00adder in the low\u00ader Oder val\u00adley. The loca\u00adtion around Gartz, which is rich in indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adals, is of par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar impor\u00adtance through\u00adout Germany.<\/p>\n<p>In con\u00adtrast, a num\u00adber of species of the bore\u00adal-cir\u00adcum\u00adpo\u00adlar species are present in acidic forests and in the nutri\u00adent-rich silt\u00ading bogs. This sub\u00adhead\u00ading includes many win\u00adter\u00adgreen plants (Pyrolo\u00adceae), some sedge plants (Cyper\u00adaceae), for exam\u00adple the even rel\u00ada\u00adtive\u00adly com\u00admon beak sedge and the blad\u00adder sedge (<em>Carex ros\u00adtra\u00adta<\/em>, <em>Carex vesi\u00adcaria<\/em>) or the swamp heart leaf, which blooms so beau\u00adti\u00adful\u00adly in sum\u00admer (<em>Par\u00adnas\u00adsia palus\u00adtris<\/em>), which, con\u00adtrary to its name, can be found main\u00adly on dry grass\u00adlands in the low\u00ader Oder valley.<\/p>\n<p>There are no longer any real \u201cAtlanti\u00adcists\u201d on the low\u00ader Oder, because the tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adture in the annu\u00adal mean and the amount of pre\u00adcip\u00adi\u00adta\u00adtion already dif\u00adfer great\u00adly from the sea cli\u00admate. Only a few sub-Atlantic-Nordic species can also be found in the low\u00ader Oder val\u00adley. These include the sil\u00adver grass (<em>Corynepho\u00adrus canescens<\/em>), the broom (<em>Sarotham\u00adnus sco\u00adpar\u00adius<\/em>), the hair gorse (<em>Genista pilosa<\/em>), the for\u00adest sedge and the sand sedge (<em>Carex syl\u00advat\u00adi\u00adca<\/em> and <em>Carex are\u00adnar\u00adia<\/em>), the com\u00admon heather (<em>Cal\u00adlu\u00adna vul\u00adgaris<\/em>) and the ear\u00adly Hafer\u00adschmiele (<em>Aira prae\u00adcox<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>There are only a few species of sub-Mediter\u00adranean plants, but they have a clear cen\u00adter of abun\u00addance in the low\u00ader Oder val\u00adley, many hun\u00addreds of kilo\u00adme\u00adters from their closed range. As such, the pur\u00adple orchid (<em>Orchis pur\u00adpurea<\/em>) and the downy oak recent\u00adly found on the Ger\u00adman side of the Oder (<em>Quer\u00adcus pubes\u00adcens<\/em>) to&nbsp;call.<\/p>\n<p>On the oth\u00ader hand, there is a large group of plants that are com\u00admon both in the East\u00adern Euro\u00adpean plant com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties and in the dry forests and dry grass\u00adlands of south\u00adern Europe. In addi\u00adtion to the ones already men\u00adtioned, these include such rare species as the showy and famous spring Ado\u00adnis (<em>Ado\u00adnis ver\u00adnalis<\/em>), the cross gen\u00adtian (<em>Gen\u00adtiana cru\u00adci\u00ada\u00adta<\/em>), the pur\u00adple sal\u00adsi\u00adfy (<em>Scor\u00adzon\u00adera pur\u00adpurea<\/em>), the great anemone (<em>Anemone sylvestris<\/em>), some sum\u00admer root species (<em>Orobanche pur\u00adpurea<\/em>, <em>Orobanche lutea<\/em> and <em>Orobanche are\u00adnar\u00adia<\/em>), the shag\u00adgy flag vetch (<em>Oxytro\u00adpis pilosa<\/em>), the deer root, which blooms so mag\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcent\u00adly in autumn (<em>Peucedanum cer\u00advaria<\/em>) or the ser\u00advice tree (<em>Sor\u00adbus tormi\u00adnalis<\/em>), which as a tree can reach an enor\u00admous&nbsp;age.<\/p>\n<p>Two mon\u00adtane decid\u00adu\u00adous for\u00adest species are to con\u00adclude the plant-geo\u00adgraph\u00adi\u00adcal part: The Christoph\u00adskraut (<em>Actaea spi\u00adca\u00adta<\/em>), which flow\u00aders at the end of May, and the Zwiebel-Zah\u00adn\u00adwurz (<em>Den\u00adtaria bulb\u00adifera<\/em>) with its small brown\u00adish-pur\u00adple brood bulbs in the leaf axils.
