Since June 2012 a small herd of bison (Bison bona­sus) at home in the Low­er Oder Valley.

You will find the bison herd on wild pas­ture in Schwedt, dis­trict Criewen behind the for­mer chick­en farm at the offi­cial Criewen vis­i­tor car park.

If you want to vis­it them, you will find the pas­ture area marked in red on the map. Although bison are large ani­mals, they can be dif­fi­cult to find in the area. When they lay down to rest in the tall grass, they are dif­fi­cult to spot.
