Bicycle excursion to the orchard near Gellmersdorf / Stolzenhagen

Orchards are not only used for growing fruit, but the areas are also used as grassland, for example for mowing or extensive grazing (agroforestry). In agroforestry, trees and arable crops, meadows and pastures are combined in one area in such a way that it is equally beneficial for agriculture, nature and the climate. The orchard of the Lower Oder Valley National Park Association, planted with old fruit varieties, offers plants and animals, so-called cultural followers, varied and diverse habitats. Thomas Michael (Managing Director of the Lower Oder Valley National Park Foundation) imparts a lot of interesting information about agroforestry, old fruit varieties and experiences and results in creating new orchards in a generally understandable form. A determination book is useful.

The excursion is free, but donations are welcome.

We ask for prior registration at the e‑mail address: , phone +49 (0)3332–219822 or via the booking function at the bottom of this page.
